Day 68

Today I cancelled my gym membership. I realized how expensive my monthly fee turned out to be considering the fact that I rarely go. With everything to experience outside during this season, I can't justify being cooped up in a workout center. Maybe I'll rejoin later this year when the days grow shorter, but for now...I'm out and about.

Day 67

Never thought I'd feel this way, but here goes: Bugs are beautiful.

No matter what our size, shape or form, we all bring symmetry to the Universe.

I found out later this is a diabrotica, one of the most economically destructive insects of maize in the United States.
Still, looks beautiful on this berry bush.

Day 66

Seriously, take some initiative. Otherwise you'll look back with a lot of what ifs

Obvious, I know.

Day 65

I'm stuck on wildflowers. They grow sprawling and rampant at Montaña de Oro, striking passersby with their petite, graceful petals and vivid colors. My weekend walks are now more about finding splendid photo opps than working up a sweat. Here are a few more wildyet elegantflowers to add to my photograph collection.

Day 64

Today I had to remind myself to focus on the positive. Not a bad thing to remember.

Day 63

What a great family dinner. Nothing beats having a brother who is a professional chef.

Even though I'm home late, there's still time to exercise. I'll just put on a dvd and stretch and tone for a bit. I'm tired and need sleep, but as a co-worker asserted lately...tired is tired.

I may as well stick to my 100-day plan of committed exercise. I can catch up on any missed z's this weekend.

Giant tomatillo in my brother and sister-in-law's garden.

Day 62

Lately I've been reminiscing quite a bit about my trip to Switzerland a few years ago. I remember my calves getting quite a workout while exploring the steep rolling hills of the wine appellations near the ville of Rolle

San Luis Obispo County has plenty of hills, too. And let's not forget the wine.

The vines of Mont-sur-Rolle in the canton of Vaud.
The vines of Edna Valley in San Luis Obispo County.

Day 61

With all of the unfortunate ugly that happens in the world, I prefer to focus on the beautiful.

This alluring yet odd little lavender flower, flecked with white spots and fluffed like a pom-pom, probably goes unnoticed on a local San Luis Obispo County bike trail. But since launching this blog over 60 days ago I've developed new impulsions. Not only do I get in at least 30 minutes of movement each day, but I now get out and explore with my eyes, ears, and camera. I've learned to pay more attention to nature's exquisite creations.

Might sound cliché, but beauty is all around us.

Day 60

Even though the view isn't always clear, If you don't get out and explore, who knows what you might miss? Yesterday I made the trek out to  Montaña de Oro and landed in the right spot to snap this photo of a lovely bird in flight, deftly making its way into the fog that enveloped Morro Rock.

I also glimpsed this lone fisherman patiently casting away into the unsettled sea.

We were all exactly where we needed to be.

Day 59

This morning I went in search of fresh produce at a local San Luis Obispo County farmers market and found these funky, mouth-watering tomatoes.

The evening was all about the pursuit of colorful, graceful flowers growing wild at Montaña de Oro
I found more than a few.

Day 58

You never know what you're going to find when strolling around a local San Luis Obispo County farmers market. Today I almost jumped for joy when I saw that a vendor brought some of his summer dahlias.

I love the intricate ebb and flow of these tuberous flowers, and each year enjoy bringing their stark, tall stems topped with brilliant summer colors into my home.

No wonder Mexico declared the dahlia their national flower.

Day 57

Needed some beach time today. Definitely got it.

What a gorgeous evening on Pismo Beach. Perfect for a long walk and a little soul searching after a hectic week.

Day 56

My ordinary day lay middled between celestial skies in the morning, and a soft hillside silhouette at sunset.

Not a bad place to eek out an existence.

These heavenly San Luis Obispo skies were a result of the aftermath of the tropical storm, Fabio.
A brilliant blue atmosphere quickly took over the veil of awesome clouds.
The evening ended with a soft pink glow set against San Luis Mountain and Bishop's Peak.

Day 55

Stretch. Stretch. Stretch.

Elongating my neck over my balcony to take shots of this molten sunset was well worth the exertion. Now it's time to tone and stretch the rest of my body.
